The first time I went to a gay bar, I was eighteen years ancient. It was in 2017, during a pivotal summer between the first and second years of university, when my friend Sarah and I—still navigating the transition between adolescence and adulthood—decided to take a trip to Quebec Town. Both of us are queer, but prior to that weekend, we had spent most of our time awkwardly fumbling around straight-dominated spaces in Ottawa, trying to figure out who we were and whom we liked.

After we arrived in Quebec, we learned that one of the city’s few lgbtq+ bars, aptly named Le Drague, was located a few minutes’ walk from our Airbnb. This is our same-sex attracted travel guide to Montreal based on our PERSONAL Exposure – tips on the gay scene of Montreal, same-sex attracted hotels to reside, cafes, and more…

Montreal is beautiful. Montreal is proud. Montreal is energetic. Montreal is bold. Above all else, Montreal is open, ready, and WAITING to embrace you!

This gorgeous city in Canada's French Quebec region is residence to one of the biggest homosexual villages in the world. It's an entire neighborhood, officially recognized in municipality maps and social media tags. The atmosphere here is one of the best we've experienced from all the different gay scenes we've been to around the society.

There's always something going on down the mile-long Rue Sainte-Catherine with plenty of bars, clubs, after-hours clubs, saunas, ꜱtriþ bars, cafes, and more, to suit everyone. And we are LIVING for it!

We visited Montreal in the height of the summer during the Fierte Pride in August. My god, these guys sure know how to own a good time! We'd happily go back in a heartbeat. Check out our vlog about the first-ever Fierte Canada Pride in Montreal right here.

Diverse, stimulating, buzzing, and…best ass?

Yup, that's actually a thing in the Toronto gay scene! Over at Woody's gay bar, every Friday evening, they host the “best ass” competition!
