I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just honestly baffled by your statement that itch.io is overrun by gay visual novels. The way I see it, one of the monitoring must be true:
- You are creature triggered by queer visual novels to the point where it seems to you that male lover visual novels control on itch even when they really only make up a small percentage of the games.
- You are searching using tags or keywords that exhibit an unusually upper number of male lover visual novels.
- Itch is for some reason showing you a lot more gay visual than it shows me for the matching tags.
...and I'd nice of like to know which one of these it is, because it affects what benign of help we can give you.
I don't think anybody here disagrees with your statement that filtering on itch is bad. The same can be said about just about every other platform, to a greater or lesser degree. Filtering is a hard challenge to solve. If it were effortless, then itch would have already solved it.
Anyway, it's doable that you would like GOG, if you haven't already tried it. Unlike Steam and itch, it

This is a small thing but one time I played Camp Buddy Scoutmaster which is one of those silly visual novel “dating” sim games and ever since Steam automatically recommends sexy games, but only straight ones. I’m not bothered nor complaining but if the purpose is to dispose me games maybe make the algorithm that suggests other adult games based on your history detect if those were lgbt games. Whenever I log into the Steam to game browse it’s just a sea of “based off playing camp buddy…” then rows and rows of anime girls with huge racks getting… well you grasp what they are getting. Again not comparing but like… it’s a male lover game triggering the system to mail me waves and waves of breasts all day long… kind of not practical all things considered but compassionate of funny.
Again, this is just a silly thing but if ya yearn to sell me games maybe flooding my recommend and discover queue with volleyball sized breasts as far as the eye can see isn’t the way to undertake it… given my play history… ;)
