"Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight says he's homosexual, but hopes people don't consider that "the most intriguing part of me."

The 33-year-old actor addressed rumors of his sexuality in a statement to People magazine on Thursday.

"I guess there acquire been a rare questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to peaceful any unnecessary rumors that may be out there," Knight's statement read. "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the evidence that I'm homosexual isn't the most interesting part of me."

Knight plays Dr. George O'Malley on the popular ABC drama. A former stage actor, his television credits also include "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Knight's "Grey's Anatomy" character, a bumbling, puppy-eyed surgeon, has long been in love with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).

T.R. Knight's family didn't perceive he was same-sex attracted before Isaiah Washington referred to him using a homophobic slur during a late-night fight on position with Patrick Dempsey, said former "Grey's Anatomy" writer Harry Werksman.

According to "How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey's Anatomy" by Show Weekly editor at large Lynette Rice, tension between Washington and Dempsey strike a boiling aim during a late-night shoot on October 9, 2006. Per the book, former executive producer Identify Wilding said Dempsey was aiming to "pay" Washington advocate for being belated to set one day "by entity late himself." The argument escalated into "physically fighting," according to Wilding.

Werksman, who was also formerly a producer on "Grey's Anatomy," guessed that Washington "felt disrespected that he and the crew had been waiting." The actor, who played Dr. George O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2009, married his longtime boyfriend, Patrick, in an intimate ceremony Friday, US Weekly reports.

Knight, 40, took a short pause from his current stint in an off-Broadway rendition of Romeo and Juliet for his nuptials. His stage co-stars Elizabeth Olsen and William Hurt were unable to make the ceremony because of the production, but Knight's wonderful friend and former Grey's co-star Katherine Heigl was among the small organization of guests.

In a declaration to People magazine in 2006, Knight came out as gay. "I surmise there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd enjoy to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there," Knight's expression read. "While I favor to keep my personal life private, I expect the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."
