Was guru gay

Correction: The article below has been updated, changing originally identified MC Solaar (occasional collaborator of Guru) to Superproducer Solar (partner of Guru). Thank you to reader Sabrina for the heads up.

Dear Readers,

A recent report has Guru in stable condition at a Fresh York area hospital.  But the cease of February brought with it stunning word of mouth news that Guru, aka Keith Elam, had suffered a heart attack and that his condition was  “touch and go.” But after only a brief buzz, a perception of suppression surrounded this tragic neighboring loss.  I wonder if its because Guru is gay.

Guru is half of the timeless hip hop group, GangStarr, with collaborator DJ Premier.  I wish that he is able to dwell so much longer than this.  Not only did Mass Appeal get me through law institution, look at how relevant and courageous the content is in  this era of hip hop mogul-tools dominating airwaves.  Plus the thrash is so neat, a “Me, Myself, and I,” meditative precursor to the Kid Cudi sonic landscapes of earphone-fresh today.

Hip hop blogs were chiming in on how Solar, a gods and earths dude who calls himself Superproducer Solar, had exclusive rights through a h

VIBE:Do you feel like your bond with Guru has been misrepresented by Solar?

DJ Premier: Well, I’ve always held down Guru… His spirit knows this. He used to get upset about so much stuff when we were dealing with the label all the time. We both would be upset. But I would take the calls because when he was upset he would flip [Laughs], where you might not be able to manage him when he’s wilding out. With me, although I had a temper, I was much calmer about it. But I always remember whenever I would tell him, “Yo Guru, don’t worry about it, they are going to take care of it,” he would be joyful as fuck. He would be like, “Yo, let’s go out for a drink.” He was the go-out king. That was his routine. He was definitely a celebratory guy. Anyone from our era knows that Guru was in every club and every bar and every detect. He could go all late hours, all day. And he would never be tired!

When was the last time you spoke to Guru?

It was March 30, 2004. April 1 was the last email I received from him and I just found it in my computer. We were pretty much going at it about him straightening his experience up with the drinking and everything… just getting himself toge

Solar Addresses Guru Criticism, Dispels Gay Rumors

(AllHipHop News) Producer Solar has addressed the intense criticism directed at him shortly after the passing of revered Gang Starr rapper Guru, who died on Monday (April 19th) from cancer.

Solar, who was Guru’s partner in his recording venture 7 Grand Records, has come under scrutiny over a series of press releases allegedly penned by Guru shortly before his death.

In each release, Guru repeatedly snubbed Gang Starr co-founder DJ Premier, referring to the producer as his “ex-DJ,” while showering attention on Solar and his increased role handling Guru’s personal affairs.

Solar told MTV that his relationship with Guru started in 2002, when the pair met through a mutual friend.

“Me and him just hit it off as men. I got to know him as a man, he got to know me as a man. We were both going through tricky periods in our lives,” Solar told MTV News. “I was functional with homeless children at the time. It’s a heavy problem … Guru was dealing with certain situations. We started hanging out, hitting the clubs in New York. We needed to lighten it

Anyone care to revisit the Guru and Solar nonsense?

The rap group “Gang Starr” was born in Boston, after Big Shug gave it life with partner Keith Elam now known as “Guru”. At that time Big Shug and Guru were faced with the financial hurdle of funding their studio sessions, so they came up with a plan to solve that obstacle with a robbery…that plan was for “Big Shug” to do the jack and “Guru” attend as the getaway driver, but that didn’t work. Recognize why? Because when “Shug” was doing the robbery, “Guru” ended up getting scared and took off. So, the robbery got muffled and “Big Shug” did a three-year sentence for robbery.

While “Shug” was in jail “Guru” moved to Brand-new York City. There, he ran into “DJ Premier” who just came from Houston Texas. Together, they formed the now legendary collective known as “Gang Starr”.
Gang Starr was doing adv, and when “Big Shug” returned from prison “Guru” and “Premo” were rightly breaking him off paper. But here’s something what you may not realize (which I always knew) Guru, whose real name is Keith Elam, was a homosexual, and he started digital dating a well-known lgbtq+ from Brooklyn Fresh york named “DJ Solar”.
